Pushkar is small town in the Ajmer District in the Desert state of Rajasthan. It is one of the oldest cities of the country. Although exact time period is not known which could ascertain the formation of the city; legend links the formation of the city with Lord Brahma. According to the legend, gods let a swan fly in the air with a lotus flower in its beak. According to them; the place where the lotus would fall, Lord Brahma would perform his yagna. It is believed that the lotus fell and Lord Brahma performed yagna in a city which is known as Pushkar. It is the only city in the world which has a temple of Lord Brahma as its deity.
