Salem is an important commercial and tourism destination in the state of Tamil Nadu in the southern part of the country. The city is based on the footsteps of the Yercaud Hills, the Yercaud town being an important and popular hill station of the district which attracts thousands of travelers every year. Salem is home to various temples and places of worship and pilgrimage. An annual 15 days religious festival is organized which is attended by thousand of worshippers and pilgrims. All this has made Salem a much frequented city by travelers almost the entire year which has subsequently given rise to increase in demand and development of the hospitality sector.
