Manali Accommodation & City Overview


The small town of Manali & Shimla in the state of Himachal Pradesh in the northern part of the country is a town of great historical lineage. In historical references Manali has been considered the home of the 'Seven Sages' or the 'Saptrishis'. Apart from this Manali has also been the place from where trade route to Ladakh and its neighboring region was initiated. Quite similar to other hill stations of the state of Himachal Pradesh, Manali also experiences cold temperatures during the winters and moderate cool temperature during the summers. Primarily because of the favorable temperature Manali is considered as an ideal getaway fro people living in nearby states or towns like Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Agra and Jaipur who frequent the city especially during the weekends.

Manali has been best known in the past as well as now for being the hub for Apple, Pears and Plums production and exports. The exports of all these are done to various places across the globe and the products are preferred and in great demand. The production and plantation of all these was initiated by the British during their rule of the country. Apart from the various gardens and production centres of these products, tourism is the other major bread earner for people residing in Manali.

Apart from the various historical and religious monuments and temples, Manali is also a famous hub for winter and adventure sports in the country. It is a centre for adventure sports activities like skiing, hiking, rafting, paragliding, mountain biking, kayaking etc. Manali is also famous for various Buddhist temples and monasteries and gompas. The city has highest concentration of Tibetan refugees in the country. Manali is also considered a heaven for honey moon couples, with close of 500 honey moon couples coming into the city everyday during the season.

The Nagga Fort, Hidimba Devi Temple, Rahla Waterfalls, Solang valley, Manikaran etc. are some of the places of tourists attraction in Manali. One has to pass through Manali in order to reach ‘Rohtang Pass’; the worlds highest motor able road. Manali is very well connected with the other nearby areas through the road network. Although it is slightly difficult to access Manali via the rail and the air link, the road network makes commuting to Manali very easy and hassle free.
